Bill Hirschman (2013-16), Excom chair
Hirschman is the founding publisher and chief critic of Florida Theater On Stage (floridatheateronstage.com), an edited advertising-supported arts journalism website created in 2011. He has worked in professional print journalism as a beat reporter, investigative reporter and editor for more than 40 years in New York, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. Reviewing the arts since the late 1970s, he has focused on theater since 1998 for the Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, while still freelancing regularly for The Miami Herald and Florida Weekly. His work has appeared in American Theatre, The Sondheim Review, Playbill.com and Variety, among other publications. He has twice served on the ATCA Excom, 2005-11 and again since 2013; served as treasurer of Foundation ATCA; and recently ended a lengthy tenure as chairman of the New Plays Committee which judges the Steinberg/ATCA and Osborn competitions. The past president of the Kansas and Florida chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists, he is currently a judge for the Carbonell Awards.
Brad Hathaway (2015-18), vice-chair
Before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011, Hathaway established a national voice in the theater community from Washington, DC. He began reviewing theater for the Connection Newspaper chain on the Virginia side of the Potomac, then came early to the digital world as the Broadway correspondent for Musical Stages Online and the Washington correspondent for Theatre.Com. In 2001 he established PotomacStages.Com, the first comprehensive website covering both community and professional theater in Washington, Maryland and Virginia. It is archived at the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library of the University of Maryland. Hathaway’s other writings are at BradHathaway.Com. He has written features and columns for Show Music Magazine, American Theatre Magazine, the Sondheim Review, Stage Directions, Entertainment Design/Live Design and Washington DC’s The Hill Rag. For ATCA, he is serving his third three-year term on the Executive Committee and is currently the Vice Chair.
