Marianne Evett | ATCA leader and Primus Prize stalwart
Marianne Brish Evett, who chaired ATCA’s Executive Committee in the early 1990s, served as President of Foundation ATCA and for many years on the Francesca Primus Prize committee, passed away several weeks ago due to heart failure at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts .
She was the theater critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Northern Ohio Live Magazine, and a journalist for Vogue Magazine.
From an obituary shared by one of her sons, we learn that she leaves two sons and a daughter, their spouses, and eight grandchildren. Her move from Cleveland to Boston in 2001 was to be near her children and grandchildren. She survived her husband of over 50 years, David Hal Evett, who passed away in 2011.
A child of Maryland, she earned a bachelor’s degree at Randolph Macon College, a Masters in English at Cornell and a Ph.D. in English Literature at Harvard, where she met her husband..
A live-streamed memorial service will be conducted from All Saints Parish, Brookline, on Saturday, February 27 at 4:00 pm eastern time.
