The Harold and Mimi Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award for a play that premiered outside New York City ($25,000), with two additional citations ($7,500 each). Six finalists are announced in advance. Generously funded by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust.

The M. Elizabeth Osborn Award

The M. Elizabeth Osborn Award ($3,000). Given by ATCA in memory of Theatre Communications Group and American Theatre play editor M. Elizabeth Osborn. The prize recognizes the work of an author whose plays have not yet received a major production, such as off-Broadway or Broadway, nor received other major national awards.

The Helbing Mentorship Program

The Helbing Mentorship Program ($5,000) is a year-long mentorship to promote and amplify the voices of young LGBTQIA+ arts writers through scholarship, mentorship, and professional development. The program has been funded by ATCA members and others who seek to honor the memory of ATCA member and LGBTQIA+ pioneer Terry Helbing (1951-1994), a theater critic, editor, and co-founder of the Meridian Gay Theatre Production Company.

The Edward Medina Prize

The Edward Medina Prize for Excellence in Cultural Criticism ($1,000) awards reviewers, critics, and journalists in the U.S. from under-represented groups (women, people of the global majority, trans, and non-binary) who write about theater and its role in highlighting people from various cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.

Tony® Award for Regional Theatre

Beginning in 1976, The American Theatre Wing agreed to a proposal on behalf of The American Theatre Critics Association to present a Special Tony Award for Regional Theatre.

Theater Hall of Fame

Inscribed in raised gold letters on the walls of the upper rotundas of Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre are the names of the more than 500 members of the Theater Hall of Fame.
