Your fun-filled post-conference in Milwaukee is almost here!
Those who elect to spend a few days in Milwaukee following the Chicago conference can look forward to a number of memorable events. Our Milwaukee dates are Sunday, June 17 (after the Chicago conference concludes) to Wednesday, June 20. Please note that you need to send registrations for the Milwaukee portion of the ATCA conference to Anne Siegel; the Chicago portion can be mailed to Jonathan Abarbanel. We are sorry to make you pay twice for postage – but we need to make this as administratively effective as possible. Thanks for your understanding.
1) You will need to book a reservation at our Milwaukee host hotel, the Hyatt Regency. It will hold our special rate of $119/night from Sunday, June 17 to Wednesday June 20. Don’t wait; this offer expires May 17 and our special rate may not be offered after that date.

The newly-renovated Hyatt Regency Milwaukee hotel is located in the city’s bustling downtown. Enjoy a relaxing evening in your spacious room, featuring plush Hyatt Grand BedsTM, or unwind with a workout in the 24 hour gym. There are coffeemakers in the rooms, as well as 42” flat panel TVs. In the morning, you have your choice of free newspapers.
Hotel Parking is $20/day ($23/day for valet parking). No need for advance reservation.
For those needing cab service on your day of departure to either Gen. Mitchell Field (Milwaukee) or O’Hare (Chicago), you can sign up online at www.goairportconnection.com. The phone is 1-800-236-5450. You may want to wait and see if others are leaving about the same time before calling.
2) Then you may want to book a ticket on the Amtrak Hiawatha line . It will take you from Chicago to the heart of downtown Milwaukee in 90 min. Jonathan will provide a complimentary public bus pass that will take you directly to the Chicago Amtrak station. One-way tickets are $23 for adults; $!9.95 for those age 62 or older; if you are a member of AAA and book your ticket at least 3 days in advance you can save 10%. There are additional discounts for the military, children and disabled passengers. Departures on Sunday: 1:05, 3:15, 5:08, 8:15 (all p.m.). There are morning departures, too, but then you’ll miss out on all Sunday activities in Chicago.
You can purchase fares at the Amtrak ticket window, too. For more information, go to www.amtrakhiawatha.com. Or phone: 1-800-USA-RAIL.IMPORTANT: When you get on the train, take the route all the way to Milwaukee’s downtown (Intermodal station). Do NOT get off at the Milwaukee airport. Unfortunately, there is NO free shuttle from Amtrak to the hotel. However, it is only a 3-block walk from the train station to the hotel. If the weather is bad, cabs are readily available curbside. After checking in at the hotel, you have a choice of exploring Milwaukee on your own or going to a couple of special events. Sadly, The Lakefront Festival of the Arts at the art museum ends at 5 p.m. However, America’s largest Polish Festival continues that day until 10 p.m. Fill out reservation (see reverse) and send registration AND a check to Anne Siegel
HIGHLIGHTS: On Monday morning, we will board our own chartered bus for a day of sightseeing and checking out Milwaukee’s theaters. We’ll board our bus at 8:45 a.m. to arrive at 9 a.m. at the Broadway Theater Center in the nearby Third Ward. Over a complimentary continental breakfast, we will hear from representatives of several theater companies that use the complex’s two stages. One of the stages, the Cabot Theater, is one of Milwaukee’s most beautiful theaters. We’ll go to another theater and then the Milwaukee Art Museum located on Lake Michigan. At the time of our visit, we can view the museum’s temporary exhibit of Impressionist posters. There is a coffee and snack bar on the museum’s main floor. For something more substantial, there is a restaurant on the lower level overlooking the lake. Lunch is on your own. From the art museum we will stop for a very brief look at the historic Pabst Theater Finally, for those who still have some energy, we will tour the Harley-Davidson Museum. Milwaukee is home to this world-famous brand of motorcycles. The museum, a relatively recent addition to the city, is more than just about two-wheeled thunder; it takes the visitor on a journey through America’s cultural history. We are trying to set up a free reception.
The following morning, on Tuesday, June 19, you’ll have to catch an early breakfast on your own. We will board our chartered bus for Ten Chimneys about 9 a.m. (By now you’ll already have received your welcome letter from Ten Chimneys in the snail mail). Remember to check off your lunch choices on the flip side of this form. We will re-board the bus about 2 p.m. and arrive about 45 minutes later at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Afterwards, we may be treated to a reception/dinner. Wednesday, June 20 is on your own.
Check the ATCA website for more details. Events are subject to change. We can’t wait to welcome you !!!!!!!
