2021 Executive Committee results and leadership changes
New York — Leadership ratification after the June 2021 electronic election occurred this week, with installation of new leadership on various committees.
The 2021 Executive Committee electronic voting process opened on Monday June 7, 2021 and concluded on Friday June 11, 2021. As announced in the June 15, 2021 ATCA Update newsletter, ATCA selected four new members for the Executive Committee. Bill Hirschman, Cameron Kelsall, and Lauren Van Hemert were elected to three-year terms, and Christopher Byrne was elected to complete two years of a term left vacant by the death of our colleague Edward Medina. All formally joined the five continuing members (David John Chávez, Amanda Finn, Elizabeth Kramer, Mark Lowry, and Kelundra Smith) at an Executive Committee meeting on July 6, 2021.
Outgoing committee members have served ATCA for many years in many ways. Chris Jones completed a single three-year term, and Martha Wade Steketee completed the second of two consecutive three-year terms, the last two years as Executive Committee chair. Jones will continue to serve ATCA as liaison to the Tony Administration Committee for the Special Tony® Award For Regional Theatre. Steketee will continue to serve on several committees and as webmaster, updating content and documenting all our new website bells and whistles.
David John Chávez was elected chair and Cameron Kelsall was elected vice chair by the Executive Committee at the July 6, 2021 meeting. Scott Bennett will continue in his appointed role as treasurer, and Amanda Finn will continue in her role as secretary.
New leaders were also ratified for several busy ATCA committees. Karen Topham was named chair of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion committee replacing outgoing co-chairs David John Chávez and Kelundra Smith; Russell Florence and Natalie Rine were named co-chairs of the Membership committee replacing Cameron Kelsall (past co-chair Mark Lowry remains a member of that committee); and Misha Berson and Cameron Kelsall were named co-chairs of the New Play committee that judges the Steinberg/ATCA and Osborn Awards, replacing Lou Harry, who continues to serve on that committee.
Thank you all for your thoughtful and dedicated service. Review the full updated leadership and committee listings here.
