(Aug 28, 2018 UPDATE)
Alan was selected as the first place recipient of the Breaking News category at the 60th Annual Press Club of New Orleans Excellence in Journalism Awards Gala. His story on the New Orleans Jewish community’s response to Hurricane Harvey (“New Orleans Community Mobilizes for Houston as Harvey Bears Down on LA.”) netted the first-place honor and entitles Alan to receive the Bill Rainey Memorial Award for Best in Show in print. Additionally, Alan received a second place award for his critical review on Thrill Me, the musical about the Leopold and Loeb thrill murder of the 1920s, and a third-place award for medical reporting for my story “Better Than Chicken Soup: Healing and Charity in the Big Easy” about Touro Infirmary. Congratulations, Alan!
