ATCA AAPI Statement of Solidarity

ATCA AAPI Statement of Solidarity

Recent senseless and barbaric attacks on our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities are attacks on all of us. These communities have been an integral part of this nation’s fabric for centuries, and these injurious and harmful incidents are heartbreaking and infuriating.

As members of the American Theatre Critics Association, we stand in solidarity with our fellow citizens, people who have been pillars of our neighborhoods and artistic community as actors, writers, designers, technicians, directors, managers and audience members. There is no room in our world for racism, xenophobia and discrimination.

The seeds of racism that have been sowed for far too long are being harvested in horrific ways, and it will take all of us using our voices to destroy hatred from the root.

We encourage those reading this statement to consider a contribution to an AAPI agency of your choice. We also encourage donations to AAPI theater companies and other artists doing incredible work in their communities to provide safety and respite to those most vulnerable to harm.

Today, we stand side by side with the AAPI community, and commit to use our voice to help create a safer and more just world.
