Kelundra Smith | A new role at the end of the rainbow

Kelundra Smith

Kelundra Smith has contributed leadership and creativity to ATCA from the the moment she joined just a few years ago. American Theatre, one of her publishing outlets for several years (see her recent piece on funding for Black theaters here), has now tapped her to be one of their new part-time contributing editors.

She was the founding co-chair (along with Martha Wade Steketee) of the active Equity, Diversity & Inclusion committee, that she now co-chairs with David John Chávez. The EDI committee generates monthly critic spotlight interviews and diversity newsletters, and holds regular virtual seminars that are available to the public. This active committee has encouraged many ATCA innovations including our first virtual conference in November 2020 and additional virtual events in 2021. American Theatre associate editor J.R. Pierce has been an important member of the EDI committee.

While leading and editing others, Kelundra also attends to her own career by writing actively for multiple publications (check out her Twitter feed for her most recent pieces) publishing in her own End of the Rainbow organization, performing, and writing plays.
