Session on season building added to ATCA-PPF20

Session on season building added to ATCA-PPF20

In our upcoming ATCA conference in Costa Mesa April 23-26, 2020 we won’t just be considering what gets staged, but also how and why. To that end, we’ve arranged two panels that explore the processes that lead to what you see on stage. For these and other details, now moot because of the pandemic:

On Thursday April 23, 2020, we’ll get the inside scoop on how a season comes together. With piles of great plays out there, how do artistic directors and their teams construct a season? We are thrilled that the panel “Putting it Together: How Artistic Directors Pick a Season” will include Oanh Nguyen, Artistic Director of Orange County’s Chance Theater, Snehal Desai, Producing Artistic Director at East West Players, and Sean Gray, Producing Artistic Director at Long Beach Playhouse.

ATCA’s Steinberg and Osborn Awards will be announced on Saturday evening, April 25, 2020. But that morning, you’ll get a chance to meet some of the finalists. In a lively panel session we’re calling “How My Play Happened” these playwrights will share their creative processes as well as the developmental steps that led them to their acclaimed productions. This is a rare opportunity to learn about the award contenders before the prizes are handed out.
